How does the calculator work and where do I find time and weight?
1. Open the model in a slicerThis can be Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura or the software supplied with your printer.
2. Select material and settingsAfter slicing, the software will display the estimated print time and material usage.
3. Enter data for one pieceThe calculator includes setup, machine time, material and basic handling, and accounts for batch efficiency at higher quantities.

The choice depends mainly on part function, appearance, accuracy, size and budget.

FDM

Best for: brackets, housings, adapters and mechanical parts. Usually cheaper and stronger, although layer lines remain visible.

SLA / resin

Best for: small, precise and visual models. The surface is smoother, although standard resins can be brittle.

CAD

Choose this when: you do not have a finished 3D model or the file needs correction before production.

3D scanning

Choose this when: you have a physical part but no drawing or model and its geometry must be recreated.

Laser

Best for: flat panels, templates, labels, gaskets and engraving.

PLA

Low-cost, rigid and clean-looking. Good for mock-ups and prototypes, but weak under heat and impact.

PET-G

A versatile choice for most functional parts. More durable and less brittle than PLA.

ASA

Suitable outdoors and resistant to UV and weather.

ABS

More heat-resistant and easy to sand and bond. Good for housings and technical parts.

TPU

A flexible rubber-like material for seals, dampers and soft grips.

SLA resins

The best surface finish and detail. Standard, engineering and flexible grades are available.
